The Role:

Working as an Apprentice SOC Analyst on our MSS team, you’ll use your skills and learn more to detect and respond to many threats of varying capabilities and sophistication.

You will use SIEM, EDR, network monitoring, bespoke tooling, and threat intelligence solutions to prevent suspicious incidents, provide users with context and threat/threat assessment to enable effective response and users The environment can be continuously monitored. Yet it doesn’t stop there.

Not only will you gain experience in assessing risks using all information sources available to you, but you will also be involved in projects that maintain and enhance our service capabilities, and We ensure that we provide innovative detection and response services to our clients. This includes risk hunting, supporting new technology implementations, malware analysis, recommending detection and engaging in strategic cross-team projects as part of your broader role in our award-winning Security Operations Center.

What you will do in your role:

As an Apprentice SOC Analyst you will work across our MSS technologies and functions: as a Security Analyst, Vulnerability Analyst, Security Engineer, and Implementation Engineer.

Below is an overview of what you can expect from these characters:

Security Analyst:

As an Apprentice SOC Analyst, you will be detecting and responding to a wide range of threats, helping to protect the UK’s largest enterprises in an evolving threat landscape. .

You will have experience preventing suspicious incidents with security information and event management (SIEM) tools, endpoint detection and response, network detection and response, threat intelligence solutions with active defence suites. Learn how to provide risk assessments to your clients.

Vulnerability Scanning Analyzer:

As an Apprentice Vulnerability Scanning Analyst, you will help support Nettitude’s Managed Vulnerability Scanning service.

You will work on a range of Tenable products, such as Tenable.io, Tenable.cs, Tenable.ep, and web application scanning.

You’ll learn how we present and prioritise discovered threats to our clients, as well as how to schedule and manage scans.

Security Engineer:

The technology underlying SOC requires daily management with maintenance and upgrades.

As an Apprentice Security Engineer, you will gain exposure to the ‘back end’ of our technology stack. Learn how to create and tune new detections and troubleshoot common problems in LogRhythm.

You’ll gain a broader understanding of how all of our technology fits together to make SOC work.

Security Implementation Engineer:

This role is in the service delivery side of our managed security services.

You can expect to be involved in implementing, configuring, and deploying a number of native security technologies.

You will learn how this role is instrumental in onboarding new clients by helping our SOC consultants develop new monitoring use cases and playbooks tailored to client needs.

What we are looking for:

Essential Experience, Skills and Requirements:

Familiarity with Windows and Linux

Ability to document and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Familiarity with Python and RegEx

Understanding of networking fundamentals

Understanding of incident management, problem management and incident response in a controlled, security operations environment

Understanding of the role of SIEM and MDR technologies within SOC

Interest in offensive tools, techniques, vulnerabilities, and their artefacts – eg, Kali, Fileless Malware, ATT&CK, CWE, CVE, OWASP

Strong desire to continuously challenge and develop yourself as part of a fast-paced, high-performing team
