  • The security engineer plays a key role in providing technical security to the Greater Manchester Police (GMP). Contractors are expected to have enough experience and expertise to guide you through the required improvements and works. 
  • The security engineer will assist in providing and enhancing the process of operational security, vulnerability scanning and patch management throughout his life Cyber Security Engineer Cyber Security Engineer.
  • This is a hands-on rollout where contractors will review and implement patches through appropriate layers of the OSI model and may be asked to support operational security and other cybersecurity requirements.

 Specific Deliverables

  • Partners with information systems, information technology, and businesses to stay up-to-date with risk information in different environments. Help define and implement a vulnerability scanning program in hybrid on-premises and cloud environments
  • Assist in performing repetitive and on-demand vulnerability scanning activities using existing security tools. 
  • Improve the current risk management life cycle. This includes automated asset discovery and cataloguing, as well as risk detection, communication and mitigation. 
  • Provide technical support for risk management and patch management projects. Describe and implement relevant data visualisation solutions, including appropriate dashboards, and reports. Work with businesses to effectively identify identified hazards and make recommendations regarding the selection of appropriate safety controls to minimise identified risks.
Cyber Security Engineer
  •  Work with technology teams to develop, select, implement and automate appropriate security solutions to protect system data from internal and external threats. Work with technology teams to define clear and measurable security goals (protection level agreement)
  • Integrate with existing security tools APIs and submit program-related compliance metrics. Describe and implement relevant data visualisation solutions, including appropriate dashboards, and reports.
  • Help improve risk scanning and patch management by identifying appropriate technologies associated with risk scanning and patch management technologies.   • Working with the security operations team prioritising activities based on the actual material risk for the business Partnership with the asset management team to ensure that all systems, existing or new, are designed for software And they have been brought under the purview of patching and antivirus activities.
  • Businesses (and indirectly) agree with appropriate maintenance windows for patching and updating with client representatives to test the environment or sub-systems of low risk systems to minimise impact on production systems and services.
  • Preparation of patch and anti-malware / EDR rollout by testing on sets

 Monitor corrective activity:

  • Take advantage of agreed action plans and timelines with responsible technology developers and support teams to manage vulnerabilities tracking and mitigation.
  • Recommend appropriate policy, standards, procedures, and methodological updates as part of a comprehensive remedial solution.
  • To verify the resolution, review the application update or deployment reduction and verify the fix.
