Job description

 In this role you will:

•  Form links in Dstl government, industry and educational institutions. We work with a range of partners at home and abroad, including the armed forces, other government departments and industry.  Build your career into exciting new fields that are growing to meet the challenges on the ground. 

• Extensive technical activities of the support group such as technical forums, monthly meetings and discussions on electricity and guidance of junior staff.

We expect technical / scientific experience gained from two or more of the following basic skills, including: 

* Antenna and spread

 * Bearer emulation and modelling 

* Bearer management and analysis Transmission Security (TRANSEC)  Knowledge of communication standards

• RF communication spectrum management Viewform design  Understand the conceptual ISO 7-layer model by focusing on layers 1 through 4 (physical, data link, network and transport).  Physical layer algorithm design 

• Link layer algorithm design Information Theory Wired and wireless bearer technologies


 Monitor emerging technologies 

• Research skills  

Thinking systems Technical writing Technical partnership

Important information Our work in defence, security and intelligence requires that our employees be UK citizens who are able to obtain a high level of security clearance to launch these projects to protect us from security threats. For this reason, only UK citizens will be able to apply for this role. This role would require full UK security clearance and you should have resided in the UK for the last 5 years. Some roles will also require Developed Vetting, in which case you should have resided in the UK for the last 10 years.
